BIG WORK DESERVES BETTER PICTURES

Burnie is a working port city. The work that goes up here is often large, industrial and visible from a long way off: steel-framed sheds, long sheet roofs, sheetmetal cladding that has to be right the first time. That work is hard to show with a phone. It needs someone who will get up high, put a drone over it and spend time with the crew who build it.

EDGE ABOVE: SHOWING THE WORK THE WAY IT'S ACTUALLY BUILT

Edge Above Sheetmetal & Roofing is a roofing and sheetmetal business with ten to forty staff, doing high-quality work across the North-West. The goal was simple: show that work properly and attract bigger projects.

We started with a strategy session, not a shoot, to pin down what the content needed to do. From there every shoot is planned around the core pillars of the business. Up to a full shoot day a month feeds a professional content library, and four posts a month go out to Instagram and Facebook, tailored to those pillars and managed start to finish. The owner stays on the tools while the content keeps showing up.

On site that has meant a drone overhead of a large steel-framed roof going on, with the crew small against the structure; crew in hi-vis on a roof edge against clear sky; a sheetmetal installer fixing a dark cladding panel from a ladder; a curved standing-seam roof detail shot from below; and the workshop side of the business, with sheet metal being handled off the coil.

WHAT HAPPENED ON META

Edge Above's own Instagram and Facebook insights, exported from Meta, show the result. I compared the 12 months before we started (24 March 2025 to 20 March 2026) with the period since (24 March to 12 August 2026 on Instagram; 13 May to 12 August on Facebook, as far back as Facebook's export goes).

  • Instagram reach went from 1,499 people to 20,668, about 13.8 times as many.
  • Instagram views went from 2,130 to 41,474.
  • New Instagram follows went from 4 to 46.
  • Facebook reach was up 70 per cent in 13 weeks, against a 51.6-week "before".
  • Reels averaged about 3,700 views a post, close to three times a carousel, and behind-the-scenes process posts consistently beat polished promotional ones.

These are straight totals, not weekly rates. The "with us" windows are much shorter than the 12-month "before", so the real lift is bigger than the totals show. Source: Edge Above's Meta native insights exports.

The owner's own words:

"Now you shoot it and manage it, people can finally see the work — and I don't have to worry about it."

WHAT WORKED, AND WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Three things drove Edge Above's numbers, and they apply to any Burnie trade.

Showing up every week. Posting close to every week was the biggest single lever. Reach, views and follows grew in step with it, steady and compounding rather than one-off spikes. That's why the monthly plan is built around a regular rhythm, not a big launch.

Video wins reach. On Facebook, videos reached almost five times as many people per post as photos (about 1,510 against 314). On Instagram, Reels averaged around 3,700 views against roughly 1,260 for a carousel. A short clip of sheet metal being folded or a roof going on does more than a polished still.

Show the work, not the ad. Behind-the-scenes and process posts consistently beat static promotional ones. The work itself is what people stop for, which is a good position for a roofing crew to be in.

WHAT I'D DO FOR A BURNIE BUSINESS

Not every Burnie business needs a monthly retainer. Some need one job shot properly. I'd start with a free discovery call about what you want to be known for, then pick the right size: The Showcase from $1,800 for one project, The Build from $5,500 for a full day and a complete library, or a monthly plan if you'd rather it just keep showing up. All published on the services page.

Commercial and industrial jobs suit a drone, because the scale is the story.
