A SHORT DRIVE, NOT A TRAVEL DAY

I'm based in Ulverstone, about twenty minutes down the highway, so a Devonport shoot is a short drive, not a travel day. Builders and trades here hire me to turn finished work and work in progress into photos and video they can actually use: on socials, on a website, and in the quote that goes out on Monday morning.

TWO DEVONPORT JOBS, TWO DIFFERENT PROBLEMS

TCB Build: a full brand library in one day

TCB Build is a five-person building business working across the North-West. Tylor Bakes wanted a complete professional presence: photography, video and a brand story a prospective client could look at and think "that's the standard I'll get".

We started with a planning conversation, not a camera. What did TCB want the content to do? Bring in more leads, and give Tylor a library he could pull from for anything he put online. Then we shot it all in a single day on a Devonport build, at framing stage.

Framing is the best time to photograph a house. The frame is open, the sun comes straight through it, and the structure reads as craft rather than clutter. Once the walls are clad that look is gone for good. On the day I shot a close-up of a tape and square on a stud, wide frames with the crew moving through the structure against a clear sky, a drone overhead of the slab so you can read the whole floor plan from above, and Tylor going over the plans with his team.

By the end of that day TCB had a brand identity video, a hero video, a client testimonial video, high-end images of the work and the crew, and headshots. Tylor said it best:

"Jess handled everything — planned the shoot, scheduled the day, and walked me through the whole thing, including the on-camera pieces I wasn't looking forward to. He made it super easy. We ended up with a full content library... For any tradie who knows they need better content but doesn't know where to start, Jess is the one to call."

40|43 Developments: a finished home, photographed to sell the next one

A finished home has a short window where it looks its best: clean, styled and empty of tradies. For 40|43 Developments I photographed a completed Devonport home in that window. The shots that matter are the ones a buyer or a future client will stop on: a deep covered entry with a timber-batten feature wall, black-framed glazing that frames the street, and the open living space that runs out to the back yard.

Sam Walters, who runs 40|43 and has worked with me for three years, put it in a Google review:

"He makes everything simple, is easy to deal with on site and produces an awesome product."

WHAT A DEVONPORT SHOOT LOOKS LIKE

Every job starts with a 30-minute call. I ask what work you want more of, who needs to see it, and where the content will end up. That decides what I shoot. A builder chasing bigger residential jobs needs different shots to a developer selling land, and neither needs a random folder of 400 photos.

Then I come to site and shoot while you work. You don't stop the job. You get edited photos and video back, sized for where they'll be used, ready to post.

Two starting points, both published on the services page:

  • The Showcase, from $1,800: one job captured properly.
  • The Build, from $5,500: a full day and a complete content library, which is how TCB started.

If you'd rather not think about it again after the shoot, the content can move onto a monthly plan where we plan, shoot and post for you.

WHO I WORK WITH IN DEVONPORT

Builders, carpenters, concreters, roofers, plumbers, sparkies and developers, usually small teams who are flat out and want the next client to be the right one. If you've ever finished a job and thought "I should have filmed that", that's the conversation to have with me.
